Job Description:

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provide professional leadership for complex case arrangements, especially in situations involving risk, complexity, and the safety of service users and others.
  • Identify needs and strengths through assessment and source appropriate solutions and interventions.
  • Use analytical skills, interviews, and observations to inform assessments, decision-making, and interventions to achieve desired outcomes, especially in managing risk to children and young people with SEND.
  • Complete support planning with families, understanding child development, parenting capacity, and environmental factors to meet outcomes within budget constraints.
  • Take a professional lead on safeguarding issues when abuse or neglect is suspected.
  • Assess and balance risk and protective factors within a child protection framework.
  • Provide specialist social work practice skills to support decisions in complex situations involving risk and ambiguity.
  • Ensure adherence to legislation, including SEND legislation, and challenge decisions when appropriate.
  • Act as the lead professional for child protection matters, ensuring prompt and effective handling in line with procedures.
  • Provide written and verbal child protection plans and reports for legal purposes, based on complex evidence.
  • Assess and manage risk, intervening proportionately to protect individuals' human rights.
  • Contribute to Education, Health, and Care Planning reviews, providing sufficient evidence for decision-making.
