Job description

Locum Social Worker - Disabilities Team in Stafford UK, earning £38.20 hourly. This full-time role offers an ongoing contract and presents an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic community-based team. We are looking for two band 6 qualified social workers to work 37.5 hours a week, from 8.30am to 5pm with a one-hour lunch, based at Edwin House, Second Avenue, Burton On Trent, DE14 2WF. The contract duration for each post is three months. You'll engage with individuals over 18 with physical disabilities, undertaking critical tasks such as section 42 safeguarding enquiries and managing complex self-neglect cases.

What you will do:

  1. Provide effective and professional supervision to social workers, social care staff, and students on placement.
  2. Allocate work based on priority and capacity, ensuring team and service time scales align with performance requirements.
  3. Ensure practice aligns with relevant legislation and good practice guidelines, promoting least restrictiveness, personalisation, and social inclusion.
  4. Oversee and support staff by providing guidance and direction in complex cases, working alongside social workers and social care practitioners.
  5. Collaborate with external partners, including health services and local councils, to deliver optimal outcomes for adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults.
  6. Support quality assurance of statutory documents within your delegated responsibility.
  7. Chair complex meetings such as MDT, Best Interest Decision, and safeguarding meetings, ensuring all relevant documentation is available.
  8. Ensure case records are accurate and timely, in line with the Recording with Care guidance.
  9. Work to resolve complaints early and support formal complaint investigations led by senior leads.
  10. Flexibility in approach based on service needs as directed by the Adult Social Care Collective Leadership Team.
  11. Availability to work out of hours, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  12. Uphold professional ethics and disciplines of social work as per the BASW guidelines.
