A leading local authority is seeking a dedicated Social Worker for a hybrid full-time position within the child protection and intake team. You will provide high-quality services to children and families, focusing on rehabilitation and comprehensive assessments. This role demands engagement with multi-agency collaborations to achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable children. Successful candidates must demonstrate relevant qualifications, effective communication skills, and a commitment to children’s rights.
Working in a hybrid style, you will work full time, 37 hours per week. The post is located in a busy child protection and intake team, working in Seymour House, Dundee's multi-agency child protection building. The team will be involved in the "Bairns' Hoose" Tayside Pathfinder. You will have a Social Work Degree, CQSW, Dip SW, CSS (with appropriate option).
You will provide an effective high-quality social work service to children and families. You will assist children and families to live safely in the community and prevent reception into care. You will work with children in care towards rehabilitation with their families of origin or towards permanent placement with substitute families. As part of the Intake/Child Protection team, you will undertake initial assessments of need/risk, including child protection investigations. You will provide an effective high-quality social work service to children and families, assisting children to live safely in the community where possible.
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of child care and protection practice, legislation, and be committed to multi-agency working and bring a positive attitude to your work. You will have experience of working with children and families and understand the needs of children who are looked after. You will have a commitment to the promotion of positive outcomes for children and young people. You must be able to communicate effectively with children, involving families and carers in decision-making processes. You will have the ability to undertake comprehensive assessments within given timescales. You will be able to work beyond normal hours when needs of children and families require this. You must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timeframe. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
