Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Social Worker for the Aftercare and Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) Service, based in City Chambers, Edinburgh. The role is 36 hours per week with a salary of £40,501 - £47,639 per year.

You will work with Looked After and formerly Looked After young people up to their 26th Birthday, assessing needs and developing support plans, in a multidisciplinary team that delivers statutory support and guidance. PVG scheme checks are required.

Qualifications

  • Regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the PVG Scheme (Scotland) Act 2007.
  • PVG Scheme or PVG update check may be required.
  • Overseas Criminal Record Check if spent 3+ months outside the UK in the last 5 years.

Social Worker: Aftercare and Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) Service

We are looking for enthusiastic social work practitioners to join our Aftercare and UASC Team to work with Looked After and formerly Looked After young people up until their 26th Birthday. We are a multi-disciplinary team undertaking the City of Edinburgh’s ongoing statutory responsibility to offer support, advice, and guidance to this cohort of young people, and assisting them to make successful transitions as they leave care and beyond.
Located alongside Aftercare and UASC colleagues in our Edinburgh city centre base, the post holders will be required to assess need and develop effective support plans for young people and contribute to all strands of the services we provide.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. Anunconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
