About The Role

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families? Do you have the drive to support and empower young people to achieve their full potential? If so, Birmingham Children’s Trust wants you!

At Birmingham Children’s Trust, we are dedicated to providing outstanding care and support to children and families across Birmingham. Our mission is to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, nurturing environment. We are a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation, committed to innovation and excellence in social work practice.

As a Children’s Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. You will work closely with families, carers, and other professionals to assess needs, develop care plans, and provide ongoing support.

Our services are always joined-up, and you will develop robust partnerships with other teams and outside agencies, including the police, health, schools, and voluntary organisations.

About the service

The Children with Disabilities Service works with children and young people who have permanent disabilities impacting their daily lives. We stay with the child throughout their social care journey, from assessment to intervention if required, including child in need, child protection, or child in care processes.

We are aspirational for our children and celebrate their successes.

We are seeking a permanent, full-time Social Worker for the team covering the East of the city. The team is based at One Avenue Road in Aston, with ample free parking available.

About You

We are looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals committed to making a difference. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Social Work and completed your ASYE.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience working with children and families in a social work setting.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
Why Join Us?
  • Impactful Work - be part of a team that makes a real difference in the lives of the city’s most vulnerable children.
  • Supportive Environment - enjoy a supportive and collaborative work culture where your contributions are valued.
  • Career Development - benefit from tailored development programs, supervision, and learning opportunities.
  • Generous Benefits - including a competitive reward package, leave allowance, Local Government pension scheme, and more.

We approach our work with care and compassion, actively listening to children and young people. We involve them in decisions affecting their lives, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.

We foster collaboration among schools, health professionals, police, and other partners to create a supportive network.

Join us to help create a brighter future for children and young people in Birmingham.

Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Depending on the role, you may undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The level of check will be determined based on role responsibilities.

We treat all applicants fairly, including those with criminal records. Having a criminal record does not necessarily disqualify you; it depends on the nature of the role and background.

Please note, the role may close early once sufficient applications are received. Submit your application promptly to avoid missing out.
