Social Worker, Disabled Children’s Team

The Disabled Children’s Team is responsible for all aspects of children's social work, from initial assessment and analysis through to long-term planning. We pride ourselves on a strong emphasis on multi-agency working and have established robust links with services providing early intervention support to children and families in need

In this role, you will provide a broad range of social care support and intervention, including Child-in-Need, Looked After Children, and Child Protection cases. You will be an integral part of our successful team, delivering quality and positive results for disabled children and their familie

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive social work services, support, and assistance to disabled children and their families.
  • Conduct assessments and analyses to inform long-term planning for children.
  • Offer a range of interventions, including Child-in-Need, Looked After Children, and Child Protection.
  • Collaborate effectively with multiple agencies to ensure holistic support for children and families.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with local policy and produce precise reports, presentations, and written updates for various stakeholders, including families, children, and young people.

What We're Looking for:

  • A degree-level education with a relevant professional qualification in Social Work.
  • Active registration with Social Work England and proven evidence of continuing professional development.
  • A strong understanding of how various factors in a child's life influence their development, with the ability to adapt your approach when working with young people, particularly disabled children.
  • Experience in managing cases involving various forms of abuse and neglect that threaten children and young people.
  • Good knowledge of factors affecting a parent's ability to care for their child and the ability to identify early warning signs of potential harm.
  • Familiarity with statutory legislation (e.g., Children's Act) and national policy drivers impacting children's services and your role.
