Job Description:

Social Worker, Children in Care Teams (up to £52,116 per annum)

We value our Social Workers. At Royal Greenwich, we offer the right support at the right time to our Social Workers, ensuring they have the necessary skills, experience, and a supportive working environment to make a real difference to the lives of children, young people, and their families.

This role involves supporting children through care proceedings or permanency arrangements. We have a dedicated Court progression Manager to support you during Care proceedings and an actively involved Family Finder and life story worker to ensure timely permanence for our children. Our practice model emphasizes a systemic approach using a compassionate mind framework, with clinical facilitators attached to each team for tailored support.

With excellent training and great benefits, Royal Greenwich is an ideal place to develop your social worker career. Our benefits include:

  • Innovative and supportive working culture with emphasis on professional development and staff wellbeing, along with manageable caseloads.
  • Generous annual leave plus 'rota days' providing an additional 10 days off annually.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements with good IT equipment.
  • Small teams that enable more direct support and supervision from your Team Leader.
  • Ongoing professional development, including at least 50 hours of protected training annually via our Practice Academy.
  • Free car parking for essential car users near the workplace.
  • Career progression opportunities supported by a Professional Educator and Practice Academy.
  • Participation in staff networks on topics like Tackling Structural Racism, Future of Work, or Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
  • Reduced-rate gym memberships.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme.
  • GreenwichCard discounts at local businesses.
  • Opportunities to join cross-sectional staff groups to improve practice and procedures.

We uphold strong social work values and embedded corporate parenting principles, with a firm commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Our small teams provide regular, high-quality supervision to help manage your caseloads, and our Senior Leaders are visible, supportive, and approachable.

Rated as Good by Ofsted, we pride ourselves on an innovative learning culture focused on improving outcomes for children, young people, care leavers, and their families.

We seek experienced, qualified social workers registered with Social Work England to join our stable and dedicated Children’s Services team.

Royal Greenwich is a great place to live and work, with excellent transport links including Crossrail, the Elizabeth line, and the Uber boat, making it easy to access and navigate the borough.

Make a difference to our children’s futures, your future, and ours.
