Social Worker – Children’s Safeguarding Team

Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Social Worker within the Children’s Safeguarding Team to work full time based in Guernsey.

The salary for this Social Worker job is up to £66,950 per annum.

  • Hold a caseload of children in need, child protection, child-care proceedings and care requirement cases.
  • Assess the needs of children and families using theoretical frameworks in order to produce, appropriately monitor and review child’s plans (single assessment). These will be within agreed timescales according to need.
  • Undertake short-term or longer-term specific pieces of work as directed following the completion of child’s plans or as a result of child-protection registration.
  • Respond to child protection concerns via the implementation and monitoring of robust child-protection plans and undertake any assessment or investigation as required by the team manager on any allocated cases.
  • Ensure that child protection and child in need procedures are adhered to.
  • Provide effective evidence-based interventions to families where children are in need of protection and present such cases to child protection conferences.
  • Present cases to and attend court and the Child Youth & Community Tribunal as required.
  • Prepare reports and represent Children’s Health and Social Care both orally and in writing in an appropriate manner at all times.
  • Prepare assessments, statements and care plans for court and where required give evidence in court. This may also include making long-term plans for performance for those children who require such intervention.
  • Work in partnership with parents, colleagues and other agencies ensuring the child is central to any process.
  • Ensure Health & Social Care policies, procedures and legislation are adhered to.
  • Actively participate in monthly supervision sessions with line manager.
  • Participate in a duty back up rota system for cases held within the teams.
  • Participate in the Emergency Duty Service rota.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be determined by the Head of Service, Children and Family Community Service, from time to time.
