Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Social Worker in the Children in Care North team. The role focuses on visiting placements, developing permanency plans and supporting young people up to age 18 to achieve positive care experiences.

Newly Qualified Social Workers and experienced practitioners are welcome. Salary ranges from £36,124 to £51,834 per year, with a nine-day fortnight for frontline staff and extensive training through the ECC Academy.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in social work, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent.
• Registered with Social Work England.
• Demonstrate capability in practice per PCF and KSS.
• Strong case recording skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

• Work with children and young people up to age 18 in care settings (foster carers or residential).
• Visit children in placement and develop permanency plans (including SGOs and adoption).
• Explain reasons for care and life-story work to help understanding.
• Support may enable some children to return home to birth families.
