Social Worker – Child Protection/Court Team

Location: Portsmouth, UK

Rate: £42.01 per hour

Contract: Ongoing, Part-time or Full-time options available

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join the Child Protection/Court (CP/Court) Team in Portsmouth. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and families while benefitting from flexible working arrangements and competitive pay.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake statutory social work with children and families, including Section 47 enquiries, child protection assessments, and care planning.
  • Manage cases involving Child in Need (CiN), Child Protection (CP), and Public Law Outline (PLO) processes.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports, statements, and evidence for court proceedings.
  • Lead and coordinate child protection conferences, core groups, and review meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to ensure effective safeguarding practices.
  • Ensure children’s voices are central to planning and decision-making processes.
  • Maintain accurate, timely case records in line with statutory requirements and local authority policies.
Requirements
  • Qualified Social Worker with a minimum of four years’ post-qualifying experience.
  • Proven experience in CP, Court, and Looked After Children (LAC) services.
  • Strong report writing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Driving licence preferred.
Working Arrangements

While the role requires a five-day office presence, certain tasks may be undertaken remotely when appropriate, providing an element of flexibility.
