Job Description:

We are seeking a permanent social worker to work in alongside our new Assessment, Kinship and Support Team. This successful applicant will join a team with a range of roles and responsibilities.

About the role

We are a small team of seven, passionate about our work and eager to expand and develop our service. The role primarily involves assessing and supporting Kinship carers and prospective Foster Carers. We are continuously expanding our service and seek someone willing to join us on this journey.

Our team is responsible for:

• Assessment of Kinship Foster Carers, including Viability Assessments and full assessments.
• Special Guardianship Support
• Supervising new Kinship Foster Carers before they transfer to the Fostering team.
• Assessment of prospective Foster Carers (Form F assessments).

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

A valid driving licence and own transport, or an alternative suitable method of travel, are essential for this role.

About you

You must be a qualified Social Worker (with a Social Work England registration) with a solid understanding of relevant childcare legislation, including Working Together to Safeguard Children. You should also have the ability to build effective relationships with children, young people, and families.
