Overview

Ackerman Pierce is supporting a leading local authority in Southend to recruit for a Social Worker - Assessment & Intervention on a permanent basis. The role is based in Southend On Sea and offers a salary of £39,152–£45,091 per annum plus a retention and reward (R&R) payment of £7,500 after 3 years and 1 day.

You must have a full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle to qualify for this role. The client has a well-structured and organised team that is growing. The role offers flexible working hours and a supportive team culture with regular supervision on cases. The organisation is embedding a systemic approach and is undergoing changes aimed at reducing caseloads and improving outcomes for families.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and supportive team within Southend-on-Sea Borough Council.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake Child and Family Assessments, S.47 inquiries, intervention and planning for Children in Need.
  • Assess, monitor and review social care needs of individuals, relatives and carers and arrange the provision of appropriate care services.
  • Apply professional knowledge to gather information, assess risks, protection and social care needs of individuals, carers and families.
  • Devise individual care plans based on needs and risks; take appropriate action with other agencies to protect vulnerable people.
  • Manage an agreed caseload, offer support and guidance, and monitor and reassess care packages/services to ensure continued effectiveness.
  • Use paper and computerised case recording systems, produce reports and capture/analyse information.
  • Knowledge of care benefits, fees and allowances is helpful; understand professional social work issues and the legal framework underpinning care services.
  • Be computer literate with basic numeracy skills and meet transport requirements; possess good communication skills with the ability to negotiate with service users.
