A leading organization in Birmingham is offering a Social Worker Apprentice position, ideal for individuals with experience in Children and Families services. This 3-year program combines on-the-job learning with academic support, leading to a BA Hons Social Work degree. Successful candidates will have a permanent role upon graduation and will be eligible to register as a Social Worker with Social Work England.
This apprenticeship scheme begins in January 2026 and is ideal for individuals with experience working with children and families who wish to advance their careers.
It offers a pathway to becoming a Qualified Social Worker, combining on-the-job learning with earning a salary, without incurring student debt, and culminating in a BA Hons Social Work degree.
Supported by a dedicated practice educator and academic support from Staffordshire University, apprentices will gain practical experience in a statutory Social Work environment, enriched by group learning and reflective opportunities through our Practice Academy. Successful graduates will have a permanent role on our ASYE programme.
Upon completion, you will be eligible to register as a Social Worker with Social Work England and continue your career development within our organization.
The selection process involves two stages: initial interviews between 11th and 19th June 2025 with Birmingham Children’s Trust, followed by a second interview at Staffordshire University in early September 2025.
Applicants must hold Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English upon entry, or be able to demonstrate this via assessments using the BKSB system, typically conducted face-to-face at Stoke-on-Trent campus.
Applicants should review the Person Specification and Professional Capability Framework, demonstrating awareness of social context, self-awareness, rapport development, and the ability to acquire relevant skills and knowledge through professional training.
