West Berkshire Council is seeking an experienced, dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join our Adult Social Care Service.

You will be working in the West Locality team – serving Newbury, Hungerford and surrounding villages.

The role

  • Undertaking assessments of individuals' care and support needs
  • Developing and implementing care plans, ensuring the provision of appropriate services
  • Conducting reviews and reassessments to ensure ongoing support meets the changing needs of service users
  • Collaborating with other professionals and agencies to coordinate holistic care
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults at risk

The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications, skills and attributes

  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant professional registration
  • Experience in adult social care, preferably within a local authority setting
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Strong assessment and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with service users and their families
  • Effective time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload

  • You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 29 days per annum (plus public holidays) rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service.

All roles will be subject to an annual banding pay review until the top of the pay grade is reached (following successfully passing probation).
