Role Responsibilities

We operate in a hybrid model of office-based and remote working to meet service needs.

£3000 Golden Hello payment to all new joiners (subject to criteria) and service-related payments following continuous service.

About Us

This is an exciting opportunity to join the adult sensory service, a small Kent-wide team with expertise in working with d/Deaf and deaf-blind individuals, including British Sign Language (BSL). Our goal is to empower those affected by deafness or deaf blindness to lead full, independent lives, focusing on the person and good practice.

We work with adults with various care and support needs, conducting assessments such as Care Act, Mental Capacity Act (MCA), Court of Protection applications, and s42 safeguarding enquiries.

Our practice is based on excellence, innovation, and meaningful measurement, emphasizing relationship-building with individuals, families, and communities to foster local support and empowerment.

About You

We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified social workers who meet professional standards, legislative, and policy requirements.

You must hold registration with Social Work England.

Strong literacy and communication skills are essential.

We seek positive, forward-thinking individuals who use strengths-based, outcome-focused practice, working collaboratively within a flexible, local team.

This role requires a Full UK Driving Licence, but reasonable adjustments will be made for disabilities preventing driving.

Our Support Offer

We provide an attractive benefits package, including flexible working options, market premium payments (eligibility-dependent), generous annual leave, and a local government pension scheme.

Opportunities for professional development include access to our social care academy, progression routes, and a new practice framework. We support skill development in areas like Approved Mental Health Professional Training, Best Interest Assessor Training, and Practice Educator Training.

Regular supervision and reflective practice are provided to support your career growth.

This position requires an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and registration with Social Work England.

This is a customer-facing role, and the council is committed to ensuring effective communication in English/Welsh, as required by law.
