Birmingham City Council have an exciting opportunity for qualified Social Workers to join the Citywide Triage Adult Safeguarding Team at Birmingham City Council.

Your new role

Birmingham City Council is looking for a dedicated and highly motivated Social Worker to join the Citywide Triage function, which provides an immediate response to adult safeguarding referrals. The role involves initial information gathering and analysis to assess risk and determine the appropriate pathway for citizens. This is a dynamic, fast-paced area requiring the ability to make defensible decisions in accordance with relevant legislation. Applying knowledge of legislation and policy frameworks and working in partnership with citizens, carers, communities, and other professionals is essential. The team comprises skilled Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, and Team Managers, fostering a friendly and supportive environment. There is comprehensive induction and training, with excellent opportunities for ongoing CPD within the team and across the wider Adult Social Care Directorate. Hybrid working options are available, including working from home, our New Aston House, and various community hubs across the city. Appropriate equipment and support are provided. Competitive pay rates with opportunities for negotiation based on skills and experience.

What you'll need to succeed

• Recognised professional Social Work qualification (MA/BA in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW)
• Social Work England registration
• At least 1 year post-qualifying experience
• Previous experience in adult social services
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to travel as required
