Job Vacancy

An exciting opportunity is available for a social worker to join the Adult Social Work Duty Team. The Duty Team are very much the front door for adult social work services and undertake a range of tasks including crisis interventions, urgent and planned assessments, support and signpost people to appropriate services, develop adult care support plans, undertake reviews and provide a variety of short-term interventions to people in crisis across Midlothian. The team provide a service to all service user groups aged 16+, across Midlothian. The work is dynamic and underpinned by a person-centred and trauma informed approach. Alongside good assessment skills the successful candidate must be able to evidence knowledge and understanding of the theories for intervention.

The successful candidate will undertake the full range of tasks and will hold a small caseload. The work involves partnership working with colleagues across the wider Health and Social Care Partnership and external agencies. You must be able to demonstrate effective communication and relationship building skills.

The team are based in Dalkeith (Fairfield House) and cover the local authority area so a full driving licence is essential. Although pre-dominantly office-based you will work within client homes, care setting and there is the option to work at home to complete tasks that are not client-facing.

Knowledge

A degree in Social Work and registration with the SSSC as a Social Worker, a Diploma in Social Work with SSSC registration as a social worker is an acceptable alternative.

Working Pattern: Monday - Thursday 09:00-17:00 and Friday 09:00-16:00

Weeks per year: 52

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £41,802.34 per annum.

Requirements

This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults and children.

Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Protected Adults and Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
