Job Description:

About this job

Are you a passionate and dedicated Social Worker registered with Social Work England (SWE)? We are seeking someone with experience working with children and families in a statutory setting to join our Kinship and Adoption Team. This unique role is designed to holistically support children in securing permanent homes and a brighter future. In this role, you will work closely with professionals and agencies to progress permanency plans for Looked After Children. As an Adoption Social Worker and Supervising Social Worker for Kinship carers, you will operate in line with Adoption and Fostering legislation. Your responsibilities will include supervising Reg 24 carers, ensuring care standards, supporting carers, monitoring the welfare and progress of Looked After Children, and providing post-Special Guardianship Order (SGO) support.

Special requirements for this post

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken for successful applicants, including a Disclosure check. The postholder must have a social work degree and be registered with Social Work England.

About you

You are a passionate, caring, and dedicated Social Worker with at least two years of post-qualifying experience working with children and families. While direct experience with an Adoption and Special Guardianship team is not essential, safeguarding experience and the ability to engage and communicate effectively with children and families are crucial. You excel in diverse communities, promote good practice, and adhere to equal opportunities policies. You’re a strong communicator with excellent report-writing skills, capable of making evidence-based decisions. As part of our values-based recruitment, you embody the council's DRIVE Values: Deliver, Respond, Inspire, Value, and Engage, particularly excelling in Respond, Inspire, and Engage.

About us

We’re committed to putting the heart back into social work, supported by our relational practice model that prioritises the child’s lived experience. Join us and become part of a team dedicated to making a difference for children and families. In return, we offer a competitive pay package, a generous pension, up to 30 days of annual leave, flexible working opportunities, and significant investment in your learning and development. We also provide excellent support for your wellbeing. Our council supports flexible working, providing the necessary IT to work from any location that meets the needs of the vulnerable people we support. We offer a £2,500 recruitment allowance with your first salary and an annual £2,500 retention payment thereafter, subject to conditions. If this sounds like the opportunity you’ve been looking for, send your questions to k for a confidential discussion. We’ll get back to you within 48 hours.
