The service operates within Dudley Children’s Social Care, which has implemented the Hertfordshire Family Safeguarding Model. This is a strengths-based, whole-family approach to supporting children and their families, bringing together and co-locating with multi-disciplinary partners, working intensively with families to reduce the risks to children coming into care or becoming subject to child protection planning.

About the Service

Dudley’s Children’s Social Care is Restorative in its practice approach, using Motivational Interviewing skills to bring about changes in children and their families, while acknowledging their strengths and those of their network.

The Adolescent Safeguarding Service works with children and young people from age 13 upwards and comprises six social work teams and one Child Exploitation Team within the Dudley Exploitation Hub, which includes the Missing Team and Police Officers and is supported by Health and Education Professionals.

The Service includes Social Workers, Youth Workers, Substance Misuse Workers, IDVA and voluntary organisations such as Barnardo’s, Phase Trust, Citizens Advice Bureau and CAMHS. The Service provides support to children who go missing from home and works closely with external and internal partners such as the Youth Justice Service and Housing.

Responsibilities
  • Join a dynamic and ambitious team within the Adolescent Safeguarding Service.
  • Apply knowledge of Extra-Familial Harm and work to help young people remain within their family networks to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Work with children and families to co-produce care plans that meet the needs of children at risk of criminal activity or sexual exploitation.
  • Encourage and support innovative practice to provide robust, holistic support tailored to each child’s needs.
