Social Worker, Leaving Care Team – Cheshire West and Chester Council

Up to £40 per hour

Are you a dedicated and experienced Social Worker passionate about empowering young people to achieve independence? Cheshire West and Chester Council is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join ourLeaving Care Team (Supporting Independence Team), a vital part of our Permanency Hub. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of looked after children across all our localities within Cheshire West and Chester.

About the Role

You will be working withyoung people aged 15 to 25who are looked after by the local authority. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Holding responsibility for a caseload of looked after children.
  • Supporting young people through thecare planning and pathway planning process.
  • Developing and enhancing theirindependent living skills.

We are looking for candidates with a proven track record inassessment and pathway planning with looked after childrenand significant experience working withteenagers and young adults. While not essential, knowledge ofDeprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)and working withUnaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC)would be a distinct advantage.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will need to be:

  • At least2 years post-qualifiedin Social Work.
  • Demonstrateexperience and proven performance in quality casework.
  • Possess the ability to workopenly and honestly with our children, families, and partner agencies.
  • Ideally, you will live within a reasonable distance from Cheshire West, as there is an expectation ofregular working from our office bases, alongside our hybrid working style.
