Overview

Riding of Yorkshire Council Children's Social Care could be exactly what you're looking for. We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to be based within the Goole Strengthening and Supporting Families team. In the heart of East Yorkshire, Goole is an exciting place to grow your Social Work career. With excellent transport links including direct rail services to Leeds, Hull, and Doncaster, and easy access to the M62, Goole and its surrounding villages provides a relaxed pace with plenty to do. Goole's family‑friendly communities, local cafes and scenic walks offer a great quality of life, plus a short drive from the Yorkshire Wolds and the coast. The East Riding of Yorkshire is a beautiful area to travel around; we cover a large area stretching from the York Border across the northern aspect of the county where there are many rural and isolated locations. We are a well‑established team with two managers, and a great deal of experience and knowledge, along with colleagues at the beginning of their social work career pathway, eager to learn and develop good practice.

What We are Looking For

  • Good decision‑making skills and a clear understanding of the statutory duties and responsibilities in relation to social work with children and families.
  • Experienced in statutory childcare work, including interventions with children, young people and their families under Child in Need Plans, Child Protection Plans, Family Law Legal Proceedings such as Public Law Care Proceedings, Private Law Proceedings and Adoption.
  • A strong ability to build effective working relationships with children, parents, carers, and others within a child’s network, grounded in empathy and compassion.
  • A confident communicator, able to build rapport and deliver clear information.
  • A commitment to ensuring timely and appropriate support for children and families.
  • Excellent partnership working, supporting colleagues as part of a team, and the ability to use your initiative.
  • Experience working across organisational boundaries to improve outcomes.
  • The ability to work with competing demands and meet deadlines.
