Locum Social Worker – Emergency Duty Team (EDT), Trafford Council

Location: Trafford, UK
Rate: £40.00 per hour
Contract: 6-month ongoing contract
Hours: Full-time or Part-time (flexible)
Requirement: Level 3 Agency Social Worker & Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)

Role Overview

Join Trafford Council’s dynamic Emergency Duty Team (EDT), delivering responsive emergency social work services outside regular office hours.

Provide crucial out-of-hours support across Trafford, working with both children’s and adult mental health cases.

Initial office-based working with potential transition to a hybrid model; driving flexibility required.

Applicants must hold a current AMHP warrant with authority to practise across different regions.

Previous experience in EDT and mental health social work is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver emergency social work intervention for vulnerable individuals, families, and children at risk, ensuring statutory obligations are fulfilled.

Act as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), undertaking Mental Health Act assessments and related duties.

Collaborate with experienced colleagues to provide consistent and effective out-of-hours services across the borough.

Maintain comprehensive, accurate documentation of interventions and case outcomes.

Remain up to date with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures in Adult Social Care, Children’s Services, and the Mental Health Act.
