Social Worker

Location: Homebased

Permanent - Full Time / Part Time – generally Monday to Friday, 9-5

About your role:

An exciting opportunity to join British Gas Energy as a Social Worker.

This new role is pivotal in our Vulnerable Customer Centre of Excellence, supporting at-risk individuals across the UK. Working with the UK’s largest gas supplier, you’ll help customers when they need us most, making a real difference daily.

You will support the development of frameworks and strategies to better identify and assist vulnerable customers, guiding frontline teams to provide tailored support, compassion, and access to resources.

Your key duties include:

  1. Identify vulnerable customers facing financial hardship, health issues, or other vulnerabilities, and develop appropriate support plans.
  2. Provide direct support to solvers, helping customers access financial aid, energy efficiency advice, and other resources.
  3. Assist in crisis situations, coordinating emergency support for health, wellbeing, or disconnection issues.
  4. Educate solvers and customers about their rights, support programs, and energy-saving tips.
  5. Collaborate industry-wide to develop accessible and effective support programs.
  6. Address mental health issues related to financial or energy insecurity, connecting customers with mental health services.

What we’re looking for:

We seek a compassionate, solutions-focused Social Worker with a strong track record in social work, excellent communication skills, and digital confidence. Experience in the energy or banking sectors is advantageous but not essential. You should embody our values, deliver outstanding customer service, and promote our products and services to help customers stay safe and independent at home.
