An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Social Worker to join the Children in Care Team, located in Bury St Edmunds. In this role, you will be responsible for managing cases of children in care, conducting direct assessments, and collaborating with various professionals to ensure the well-being of children. You should have at least three years of social work experience and a passion for improving the lives of vulnerable children.

Opus People Solutions on behalf of Suffolk County Council have an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to join their Children in Care Team.

Location: Bury St Edmunds IP33 3YU

Working Arrangements: to work from the office 3 days a week

Key Responsibilities:

1. Be the case responsible person / allocated social worker for children in care proceedings and children who are in long-term care or for whom permanent alternative care planning is progressing.
2. Undertake direct work with children in care, ascertaining their lived experience and their wishes and feelings.
3. Undertake life story work and produce life story books.
4. Write, review, and amend children’s care plans, considering their identified needs.
5. Write reports for Children in Care reviews and for Court as part of care proceedings.
6. Work in partnership with the child’s carers, parents, family network, and other professionals such as the child’s IRO, Guardian, Health, and Education teams as part of care planning.

The role involves significant travelling, sometimes to rural locations to visit children in placements; therefore, driving is essential.
