Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a permanent Team Manager - Safeguarding Team, based in Wigston. The post is 30 hours per week and requires Social Work England registration with substantial child protection experience.

You will lead a team of professionals, prioritise workloads, and ensure high-quality safeguarding and child protection services while meeting performance targets and statutory requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience of statutory childcare social work, including Child in Need, safeguarding, child protection and care proceedings.
• Experience of supervising staff and/or social work students.
• Management experience.
• Experience of using performance indicators to monitor and improve performance.
• Ability to analyse information to reach sound decisions, often under pressure, and take responsibility for their outcome and regular reporting to the Service Manager.
• Excellent safeguarding knowledge and best practice in the delivery of quality services.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to a team consisting of a senior practitioner, 3 social workers, 2 support and assessment workers and 2 support staff.
• Allocate and prioritise workloads to ensure child safety remains paramount while developing the team.
• Ensure performance targets are achieved and services run efficiently.
• Lead safeguarding casework and collaboration across child protection and care proceedings.
• Oversee Child in Need and related safeguarding processes; manage staff to deliver high-quality services.
