Kent County Council's North Kent Family Time Service is seeking a Social Work Assistant based at the Swale Local Office with travel across North Kent. The role focuses on facilitating Family Time, supporting parents, and ensuring children have positive experiences within care plans.

You will transport children when needed, document sessions accurately, and liaise with Social Workers and professionals to inform assessments and court work. A full UK driving licence is required.

Social Work Assistant - Family Time Service

Role Responsibility

We have a vacancy for a Social Work Assistant within the North Kent Family Time Service. Based at our Swale Local Office and cover across North Kent.

The primary requirement is to facilitate and supervise Family Time between children and their families, during which time you will need to ensure children get the best experience from these sessions and support the parents as necessary and appropriate.

Whilst most of the arrangements for Family Time will be in place, you will be happy to assist and support the necessary transport arrangements including transporting children as required to ensure the implementation of the care plan. You will need to accurately document these sessions for later use in assisting Social Workers to complete assessments and inform care plans.

Providing support is essential to our service users so the ability to produce good reports and case notes, collate information and liaise with Social Workers and other professionals to inform the complex court work is another key element of the work.

You will need to be able to demonstrate that you can develop good working relationships with the families, foster carers and other professionals with whom we work, as good interpersonal skills are vital.

You will become part of a team of Social Work Assistants who are based in North Kent. Although this role is based at Swale Local Office, the Family Time Service is lead from Denton Family Centre in Gravesend, so there may be times when you will be working to support the wider service.

This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence – The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.

The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling around the County of Kent and beyond. There may be times that you are required to travel across a wide geographical area, in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day. You should note that public transport is not a viable option as some rural areas of Kent often have limited public transport.
