Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council is seeking a Social Work Assistant to support children in care, their families and carers, helping to improve outcomes and promote stability. You will help children maintain meaningful relationships and contribute to reunification plans where appropriate.

You will work under social workers, carry out targeted family support, coordinate with education and health, and ensure safeguarding and accurate records.

Qualifications

• GCSE level education or equivalent required.
• Experience in a children and families’ service.
• Experience in assessment, service delivery and written records.

Responsibilities

• Supervise family time between children and families, ensuring child safety.
• Contribute to development, delivery and review of plans and services.
• Recognise safeguarding concerns and escalate as needed.
• Provide targeted family support and work under a qualified social worker.
• Liaise with social workers and external services to ensure coordinated support.
