Social Work Assistant

Location: Bromley
Contract: Initial 3 Months (Full-Time – 36 Hours per Week)
Rate: £24 per hour (Umbrella) (£19 PAYE an hour)

Bromley Council is seeking a dedicated Social Work Assistant to support the recruitment, engagement, and retention of foster carers. This role plays a key part in ensuring children in care have safe, nurturing homes.

About the Role You’ll work alongside the Recruitment and Marketing Officer, Social Workers, and Foster Carers to promote fostering within the community and support carers through every stage of their journey. This is a varied and rewarding position that combines administrative support, event coordination, and direct engagement with the public and carers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support fostering recruitment campaigns through events, community outreach, and digital platforms.
  • Act as the first point of contact for enquiries, guiding prospective carers through the process.
  • Help organize and attend information sessions, training, and carer support events.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records, scheduling visits, and preparing recruitment materials.
  • Promote fostering through partnerships with local groups and foster carer testimonials.
  • Work closely with carers and colleagues to ensure a supportive, connected fostering community.
Skills and Experience
  • Experience in social care, recruitment, or community engagement.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Confident in public speaking and working with diverse communities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database systems.
  • Flexible with availability (including some evenings/weekends).
  • A valid UK driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Knowledge of fostering and related legislation.
  • Experience with event planning and community initiatives.
