Job summary

Brighton & Hove City Council is seeking a Social Work Assistant to support adult social care services. You will work with social workers to carry out assessments under the Care Act, helping to promote safety and independence for residents.

The role involves contributing to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring timely assessments, and delivering practical support. A DBS check is required, and salaries are pro rata for part-time arrangements.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with vulnerable people who might use social care services.
• Experience of applying law and policy relevant to the care of adults.
• Ability to identify and assess risk of harm to people, including safeguarding adults legislation.
• Understanding the importance of information, advice and re-ablement to promote independence and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Complete assessments under the Care Act as part of the Enhanced Support Team.
• Assist social workers with more complex situations and cases.
• Receive regular supervision and training to fulfil the role.
