Overview

Band 4 Social Work Assistant – Base: BELFAST; Hours: Monday – Friday, 9am–5pm; Requirements: Full UK driving licence, access to a car, and business insurance

About the Role

Total Care Recruitment are seeking a dedicated Band 4 Social Work Assistant to support children, young people, and families in partnership with the Social Work Team.

You will work under the guidance of Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, and Team Managers, contributing to assessments and delivering direct support to families.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Direct Family Support
    • Work with children, parents, and carers as directed, in line with agreed support/protection/care plans.
    • Provide practical assistance, including transport to appointments, parenting advice, budgeting, and household management support.
  • Supporting Assessments & Casework
    • Contribute to assessments while the Social Worker holds case responsibility.
    • Collate essential information on families and report findings to case-holders.
    • Assist in the coordination of family support, respite, and diversionary services.
  • Contact & Meetings
    • Assist in the delivery and supervision of contact services, including transport and documentation.
    • On occasion, attend Trust meetings and contribute to reports.
  • Team Support & Governance
    • Report child protection or safeguarding concerns immediately.
    • Support with administrative tasks, including referrals, arranging family time, and duty tasks.
    • Maintain accurate case records and provide written reports when required.
    • Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams under direction of social work staff.
  • Professional Standards
    • Participate in supervision and training in line with NISCC registration.
    • Maintain professional standards, codes of conduct, and best practice at all times.
    • Demonstrate HSC values: Working Together, Excellence, Openness & Honesty, Compassion.
