Darlington Borough Council have recently been inspected by CQC and have been rated Good.

We are offering a permanent full-time position in the Mental Health Team. A market supplement of £2,500 per annum (pro-rata for part-time hours) is in operation for AMHPs and will be payable in monthly installments, additional to your basic pay. This has been agreed until 31.12.2025 but may be reviewed before then.

You will work as part of a cohesive team of social workers and support workers under the guidance of an experienced team manager and senior practitioners. The team performs two main functions:

  1. A casework element, providing social work services to adults aged 18+ with complex mental health needs in Darlington, working proactively with service users, their families, carers, and other relevant professionals.
  2. Screen and complete Mental Health Act referrals; you will be expected to work towards qualification as an AMHP if you are not already qualified.

We welcome applications from both newly qualified and experienced social workers who are committed to strength-based practice, focusing on enabling individuals to build on their own networks and strengths to meet their needs. You should have demonstrable assessment and care management skills, along with the drive and passion to make a difference in a dynamic and fast-paced team. You will work as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in a co-located environment.
