With public sector commitment to achieving additional social value through contract delivery, there is much to do in order to respond to social and wider sustainability challenges and opportunities.

As a member of the Defence and Asset Solutions sustainability and social value team, you will define and align our divisional social value strategy while delivering across a wide range of projects, playing a key role in collaborating with our clients, supply chain and internal project, social value and sustainability teams to create win-win outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Seeing the bigger picture to understand and align client social value requirements with Amentum capabilities, influencing and creating the most impactful opportunities for lasting social value.
  • Translating social value requirements into compelling project-level propositions and delivery plans, both delivering social value activities yourself and leading and inspiring delivery through project and/or functional teams.
  • Monitoring, measuring and evaluating project and divisional social value performance, reporting and sharing information in meaningful ways to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engaging with sales teams and those in key client-facing roles to ensure meaningful social value is a part of our value proposition and embedded from the concept stage of all new projects.
  • Using your subject matter expertise to provide coaching and thought leadership on social value matters and best practices to senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrating leadership to support cultural evolution and behavioural change through great communications, social value upskilling/ training appropriate to internal and client audiences and mentoring colleagues.

There is considerable flexibility within this team to tailor roles to individual interests, career aspirations and other life commitments. The role can be delivered in a flexible manner by home or office working, and your base office could be any of our Amentum offices. Travel to Bristol and to UK-based client sites will be required, as will a need to deliver face-to-face engagement in the community.

We’ll inspire and empower you to deliver your best work so you can evolve, grow and succeed – today and into tomorrow. We offer an exciting range of opportunities to develop your career within a supportive and diverse team who always strive to do the right thing for our people, clients and communities.

People are our greatest asset, and we offer a competitive package to retain and attract the best talent. In addition to the benefits you’d expect, UK employees also receive free single medical cover and digital GP service, family-friendly benefits such as enhanced parental leave pay and free membership of employee assistance and parental programmes, plus reimbursement towards relevant professional development and memberships. We also give back to our communities through our Collectively program which incorporates matched-funding, paid volunteering time and charitable donations.

Work-life balance and flexibility is a key focus area for us. We’re happy to discuss hybrid, part-time and flexible working hours, patterns and locations to suit you and our business.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A passion for social value with the capability to lead delivery.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and draw on the experience of those around you to deliver in a complex and challenging environment.
  • Social value experience and knowledge of key issues and opportunities as they pertain to government departments, particularly defence and nuclear.
  • Experience in working with multi-disciplinary consultancy teams, from technical to senior levels.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, build trust and relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels of organisations, including senior, with a proven track record in motivating people to achieve better outcomes and inspiring lasting culture change.
  • People skills to inspire and encourage others.
  • All staff are required to be sole UK Nationals and able and willing to obtain SC level security clearance, and therefore must have been resident in the UK for the preceding 5 years.
