Job summary

JRL Group is seeking a Social Value Manager to lead the development and embedding of our social value strategy across civils, build & the built environment. You will influence communities, stakeholders and project teams to deliver social value activities aligned with national and local themes.

The role requires delivering social value plans across multiple projects, engaging partners, and reporting impact to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Experience in social value or CSR within construction is desirable.
  • Ability to develop social value delivery plans with local partners.
  • Familiarity with Social Value monitoring frameworks e.g. TOMs is desirable.
  • Strong reporting, data interpretation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Willingness to travel as part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide informed social value submissions for tenders and bids, advising on requirements and costs.
  • Roll out a standardised approach to reporting social value across JRL and report to Senior Leadership.
  • Coordinate policies and campaigns supporting local community engagement and workforce involvement.
  • Work with pre-construction and operations teams to embed social value in contracts and projects.
  • Engage supply chain and advise on social value requirements and implementation initiatives.
  • Deliver training and skills programmes with regional teams.
  • Build relationships with external partners and stakeholders to support employment and community activities.
  • Establish and maintain monitoring, measurement, and reporting processes for social value per TOMs or other frameworks.
  • Support community engagement liaison and communications.

Do you have a passion for Social Value and looking to make an impact within our business and society? Are you currently seeking a new opportunity within Social Value taking a lead role within an evolving business?

We are looking for a talented Social Value Manager to join the JRL Group, an industry leading, innovative, national construction business consisting of 14+ divisions across civils, build & the built environment and are ever expanding. The role will be responsible for implementing our Social Value strategy, where you will help to create, embed, and maintain a social value framework. You will influence our local communities, internal and external stakeholders, and wider society. It will require working with our delivery teams to deliver project activities related to Social Value across our developments. Alongside engagement of stakeholders (employees, local communities, supply chain) in the development and implementation of Social Value plans across the business. As an experienced social value practitioner with a passion for collaborative working, the successful candidate will develop, implement, monitor and report on the impact of social value programmes and associated activities across a range of projects and frameworks. Experience of working with local partners to deliver local employment, training and skills and community engagement programmes and activities will be the key to success in this role, combined with an understanding of national and local themes to ensure the social value deliverables are relevant and beneficial. An understanding of the construction sector and local employment and skills programmes would also be beneficial. Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing informed, deliverable social value submissions for tenders and framework bids and responses to questions at PQQ/ITT stage, advising on specific requirements and associated costs.
  • Develop and roll out a standardised approach to reporting Social Value activities across JRL. Frequently reporting the Social Value performance to the Senior Leadership team.
  • Promote and co-ordinate companywide policies and awareness campaigns that support local community engagement activities, such as volunteering days, funding and educational programmes. Develop strategies to increase workforce engagement.
  • Working with the pre-commencement and operations teams on securing supply chain involvement and embedding social value into contract and project delivery.
  • Engaging the supply chain, advising them of the social value requirements, implementation initiatives and how they can be met.
  • Working with our regional teams to deliver training and skills programmes.
  • Identifying, developing and maintaining relationships working closely with external partners and stakeholders e.g. schools, colleges, VCSEs, community organisations, employment and skills agencies, local authorities etc.
  • Reporting within required timeframes internally and to clients, local authorities and stakeholders. Establishing and maintaining monitoring, measurement, analysis and reporting processes for social value in line with National TOMs, S106 or other monitoring frameworks as agreed.
  • Supporting with community and stakeholder engagement liaison, and communications.
  • Representing JRL on project related local forums, committees and groups.
  • Providing guidance and support to sites on community aspects of CCS to improve scores.
  • Working with the marketing team to produce case studies and to promote social value activities externally online, through social media and internally.
Skills/Experience
  • Experience in a social value or CSR role within construction, or a training and skills background is desirable.
  • Experience of developing social value delivery plans and understanding of social value methodologies; working with local partners to deliver local employment, training and skills and community engagement programmes and activities.
  • Working knowledge of Social Value monitoring frameworks e.g. TOMs (Themes Outcomes Measures) is desirable.
  • Ensure timely, accurate client reporting and meet contractual obligations.
  • Work with project teams to align social value efforts with community priorities.
  • Build strong client relationships, find innovative solutions, and explore/support funding opportunities.
  • Plan PR initiatives and celebrate key milestones with case studies and impact reports.
  • Strong analytical, data interpretation and management skills.
  • Strong literacy skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, networking and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to engage well with others and influence a range of key stakeholders.
  • Confidence in meeting and working with a diverse range of people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel as part of the role.
