Main duties of the job

Cygnet Hospital Ealing provides a welcoming, non-institutional environment, offering personalised treatment for service users with an eating disorder or personality disorder over two separate wards.

Cygnet was established in 1988. Since then, we have developed a wide range of health and social care services for young people and adults with mental health needs, acquired brain injuries, eating disorders, autism, and learning disabilities within the UK.

Job responsibilities

Are you a Psychology graduate looking for your next step? Are you someone people go to when distressed or troubled, someone who knows the right thing to say or do, someone who does not judge, makes no assumptions, and can see the potential in everyone?

As a Social Therapist, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team on an in-patient ward, with supervision, support, and training. You will deliver interventions defined within the personalised care plan, spend time engaging, connecting, and supporting service users, families, carers, and friends through their recovery pathway. You will help facilitate activities/groups and ward-based projects and be actively involved in every aspect of their physical, psychological, and social care.

You will be expected to work 38.5 hours a week.

Additional details
  • Actively participate in assessment and care planning, ensuring care is individualised and holistic.
  • Work with registered nurses and the MDT to implement care, involving patients in all aspects of their care and ensuring understanding of the Care Programme Approach.
  • Ensure meaningful activities, including outside regular hours, focusing on recreation, recovery, awareness, and progression.
  • Participate as an associate nurse in MDT reviews and care discussions.
