Job Description:

An inclusive and high-performing secondary school in Tower Hamlets, East London is seeking a Social Sciences Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, term-time only basis starting in September 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate with a Social Sciences-related degree who is considering a career in teaching and would like to gain practical classroom experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the delivery of lessons in subjects such as Sociology, Psychology, and Politics

Work with students 1:1 and in small groups to support learning and progress

Assist classroom teachers with behaviour management and lesson preparation

Create a positive and inclusive learning environment

Contribute to pastoral care and support students' social and emotional development

Participate in school events and extracurricular activities as needed

Requirements:

A degree in a Social Sciences-related subject (e.g. Sociology, Psychology, Criminology, Politics)

Experience working with young people, paid or voluntary (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, youth work, classroom support)

A genuine interest in pursuing a career in secondary education

Strong communication skills and a proactive, reliable attitude

Willingness to undergo (or existing possession of) an enhanced DBS check
