Job description

  • Social Sciences Teacher required for a January start

  • Well-established school based in St Albans

  • Opportunity to contribute to a successful Social Sciences department

  • Teaching opportunity for a candidate with expertise in subjects such as Sociology, Psychology or related disciplines

Our client is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Social Sciences Teacher to join their school in St Albans from January. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about helping young people understand the social world, explore human behaviour and develop the analytical skills required for success in further education.

The school is interested in candidates with a background in one or more Social Sciences subjects, particularly Sociology and Psychology. The successful applicant will be able to deliver engaging lessons that encourage students to evaluate evidence, consider different viewpoints and apply theoretical knowledge to contemporary issues. Depending on departmental needs and the candidate's specialism, the role may involve teaching across more than one subject or key stage.

The ideal candidate will combine secure subject knowledge with effective lesson planning, clear explanations and an inclusive approach to classroom practice. Students should be encouraged to ask questions, challenge assumptions and develop well-reasoned responses to complex issues. The ability to support examination preparation, develop written communication and provide constructive feedback will be important aspects of the position.

Both experienced teachers and suitably qualified ECTs are encouraged to apply. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to join a school where collaboration, academic development and student engagement are central to the teaching and learning culture.
