You will be expected to teach across the full ability range at Key Stage 4 and at Post-16 level. You will be able to offer a combination of social science subjects which may include Sociology, Religious Education and Psychology.

The Social Science department is a vibrant and dynamic team with responsibility for an array of subjects across the curriculum. Teaching and Learning is strong across all subjects with the department leading by example in many areas, particularly in the development of speaking and listening in lessons. The department is made up of several members of staff, many of whom are responsible for teaching more than one subject.

Staff in the department work collaboratively in all aspects of their planning and practice; a new member of staff would be expected to be an active member of such a team, whilst being responsible for a high standard of teaching and learning in their own subject areas. The new member of the department would also need to be flexible in their approach to such a diverse department which draws upon a number of skills and areas of subject knowledge.

Why choose us?

  • Supportive department, wider staff body and Senior Leadership Team
  • A culture of high expectations and a culture where achievement is celebrated
  • Great student culture and supportive systems that are used consistently across the school.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified to teach and work in the UK
  • Qualified to Degree Level in relevant subject
  • Commitment to further professional training

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Successful KS4 and KS5 teaching experience in relevant subject, and ability to teach full range of students
  • Evidence of teaching good and outstanding lessons over time
  • Evidence of significantly improving teaching and learning and examination results at Key Stage 3, and 4, or 4 and 5

PROBATION PERIOD: The post holder will be required to complete a 4-month probation period

If you are the Social Science Teacher we have been looking for, then apply today. Shortlisted Teachers will be contacted within 24 hours.

We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. You will have a safeguarding responsibility if appointed.

The successful candidate will be subject to enhanced clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service and employment will be subject to references.
