Job summary

Disability North is seeking a part-time Personal Assistant to support Phoenix, a 6-year-old boy with Autism and ADHD, in the west end of Newcastle. You will provide day-to-day care, accompany him on walks and activities, and help with routines under parental supervision.

The role requires a driving role, a DBS check, and references. Mileage is reimbursed, and a suitable candidate will be able to work in the UK with permission.

Qualifications

• Driver is essential for the role.
• DBS check and references will be required if offered.
• Ideally some experience of caring for children, including those with Autism or ADHD.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal assistance to a child with Autism/ADHD during daily activities.
• Supervise outdoors and at parks, ensuring safety and engaging in activities.
• Support transitions between activities and accompany to walks, trampolining and swimming.
• Liaise with parents to maintain routines and consistent care.

He loves listening to music, is fascinated with numbers and loves to be cuddled. Phoenix likes to be active and being outdoors especially going for long walks. He also likes to spend time in local parks and loves to go trampolining and swimming.

Hours: 9 hours (holiday time)
Area: West Denton, Newcastle upon Tyne
Rate: £15.00 per hour

Phoenix has been diagnosed with Autism and ADHD which finds him being really frustrated with transitioning from one activity to another. When outdoors he normally has reins as he has no awareness of danger and will run off at any opportunity, therefore the PA would have to be constantly vigilant with him when out and about.
Ideally, mum and dad would like a PA who is enthusiastic with a genuine interest and enjoyment in working with children and has some experience of caring / working with children with Autism or ADHD.
A driver is essential for this role; mileage will be reimbursed.
