Job summary

Disability North in Newcastle is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Personal Assistant to support an 8-year-old girl with autism. The post is term-time only and involves around 4.5 hours of care per period; duties include companionship, helping with routines, and safe activity supervision. A driver would be ideal but is not essential.

The role pays £14.00 per hour. The post requires a satisfactory DBS check and references, and applicants must have permission to work in the U.K.

Rate: £14.00 per hour

Our daughter is a happy, smiley, friendly 8-year-old girl who lives with her mum and dad and her older brother and sister in the west of Newcastle. She loves to dance and plays it on her laptop and likes to copy the different dance moves. She also likes to be outdoors walking and going to the play park and loves being on the swings. She is very picky when it comes to food and prefers eating small portions.

She has been diagnosed with autism and has had an operation for a tumour, and this has corrected her epilepsy although she still takes medication for it. She points to thing when she communicates and speaks in French. She has no awareness of danger therefore the PA when out and about must be vigilant and hold her hand

Ideally, the family would like a PA who is enthusiastic with a genuine interest and enjoyment in working with children and has some experience of working with children with autism.

A driver would be ideal but not essential
