Year after year, London's Pride celebrations bring people together in amazing ways. The connections and community we build lay the groundwork for a brighter, more inclusive future. Now's your opportunity to play a meaningful part as a Pride in London volunteer.

Pride in London is embracing a renewed sense of purpose that resonates with everyone. We stand as a beacon to highlight ongoing challenges within the LGBTQ+ community, even amidst progress. Our roots intertwine the protest origins of Pride with the spirit of celebration.. Our guiding values – Visibility, Unity, and Equality – drive every step we take.

Our incredible team is a blend of passionate staff and volunteers who champion diversity, inclusivity, and understanding. We hail from diverse walks of life, forming a vibrant community of change-makers. Our ultimate goal? To amplify awareness of LGBTQ+ matters and advocate for the rights that ensure equal lives for all.

With a diverse and dedicated year-round team of around 150 volunteers, we orchestrate Pride in London, the incredible event that unites us all. Your unique voice can contribute to the symphony!

● This role has a flexible start time however we would be looking for someone who can start as soon as possible.

● Availability to volunteer on the day of the event (Saturday 5th July) is essential.

● This role carries an average volunteer time of 6 - 8 hours per week.

Your Role

In this creative and strategic position as Social Media Team Lead at Pride in London, you'll amplify our digital presence while ensuring our platforms serve as inclusive spaces for the entire LGBT+ community. Leading a passionate team of social media specialists, you'll develop compelling content strategies that engage diverse audiences and strengthen Pride's voice year-round. This influential role directly shapes how Pride in London connects with, celebrates, and advocates for the community across all digital channels.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic social media plan that integrates seamlessly with the Communications team and wider Pride in London organisation goals.
  • Build and nurture our social media presence with intention, ensuring our platforms authentically represent and amplify the whole LGBT+ community.
  • Lead and inspire a dedicated team of social media and community managers, guiding them to create resonant, impactful content.
  • Collaborate with agencies, platforms, and partners to develop innovative social media campaigns that are both measurable and meaningful in connecting with diverse community segments.
  • Direct the creation and execution of varied content formats including video, images, animation, and live production that tell compelling stories.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders across Pride in London to transform strategic objectives into creative digital initiatives.
  • Partner with the Marketing team to produce high-quality campaign content that drives engagement and furthers our mission.
  • Support the Head of PR in managing digital reputation risks, ensuring swift and effective responses that protect Pride's values and voice.

What you'll bring to Pride in London

  • Strong knowledge of popular and emerging social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat (Essential)
  • Experience developing and implementing social media strategies for organisations with complex, evolving needs (Essential)
  • Experience leading and inspiring teams of volunteers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment (Essential)
  • Deep knowledge and passion for diversity, equality, and inclusion issues within the LGBT+ community (Essential)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to adapt tone for different platforms and audiences (Essential)
  • Creativity in content development with an eye for engaging visuals and compelling storytelling (Essential)
  • Strong analytical skills to measure performance and optimise social media strategies (Desirable)
  • Experience collaborating with marketing and PR teams to deliver cohesive campaigns (Desirable)
  • Background in crisis communications or reputation management on social media (Desirable)
  • Resilience and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining high standards (Essential)
