Job Description
We’re seeking a hungry and energetic Social Media Community Manager to join our evolving team. Sports Direct is undergoing a significant transformation with a new brand direction and purpose, and we are building a new team to drive this change.
Working closely with our Social Strategist and content creation team, the Football Social Media Manager will execute strategies across Sports Direct Football’s social channels. Key objectives include increasing reach, site traffic, engagement, and paid CTR. The role involves ensuring all communication and content reflect each brand’s personality, meet marketing objectives, and leverage culture to enhance relevance. Primary channels will include Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook in the first year.

- You are passionate about football and sports and eager to collaborate with major brands like Nike, adidas, PUMA, and New Balance.
- You aim to innovate continuously across social channels, optimizing through test-and-learn methods.
- You want to gain experience shooting with top athletes like Jack Grealish, Cole Palmer, and Reuben Dias.
- You understand this is not a traditional 9-5 role and are willing to work around cultural moments, sometimes outside regular hours, with international travel involved.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE
- Develop and manage social media content, collaborating with creative and production teams.
- Attend athlete shoots to produce social-first photography and videos.
- Create and implement social media strategies aligned with business goals.
- Plan, execute, and monitor social media campaigns.
- Engage with followers, respond to comments/messages, and foster community.
- Analyze and report on social media performance metrics.
- Coordinate with marketing, PR, and customer service teams.
- Stay updated on social media trends and share insights with teams.
- Develop compelling copy for various formats.
- Establish and maintain our brand’s tone of voice based on new positioning.
- Work with paid social teams to execute campaigns and distribute content effectively.
Qualifications

- Ability to translate brand direction into engaging social content.
- Understanding of cultural insights and their application to content.
- Deep knowledge of social platform engagement and behavioral trends.
