Job description

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £47,000 - £52,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

We're looking for a creative and experienced Social Media Manager to help shape the online presence of BBC Radio 1. You'll lead the charge in bringing our radio moments to life through engaging short-form video and social content, helping young audiences discover the best of our live radio, music, and podcasts.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
  1. Plan, schedule, and curate engaging content across Radio 1's social media channels.
  2. Lead and support major social campaigns, responding to trends and creating shareable, social-first formats.
  3. Manage the day-to-day tasks of the Radio 1 social media team and coordinate with internal and external suppliers.
  4. Amplify key radio moments weekly, ensuring content reaches beyond owned channels for maximum impact.
  5. Produce authentic, relatable content that brings our audio output to life for young audiences.
  6. Ensure all content complies with BBC and Ofcom policies, and support teams and suppliers in meeting these standards.
  7. Collaborate with other music social media managers, editors, and marketing leads to deliver cohesive content strategies.
