Job Title: Social Media Executive

Location: UK – Flexible on Location

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

About the Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Social Media Executive to join our Digital team at one of our racecourse hubs. You will be responsible for storytelling, engagement, and audience growth to promote our brand effectively.

About The Jockey Club

The Jockey Club organizes thrilling sporting events and live entertainment nationwide, including The Grand National, The Cheltenham Festival, and The Derby. We own and operate 15 courses, providing memorable experiences through racing, music, food, and entertainment on race days and beyond.

The Social Media Executive Will
  • Implement a group-wide social strategy to increase audience growth, engagement, and revenue.
  • Expand our social media following and enhance engagement across all platforms.
  • Enhance brand awareness and positive sentiment for the group and the sport.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Commercial, and regional teams to align content with strategic goals.
  • Manage daily publishing schedules and support coverage of major events.
  • Contribute ideas and assist in developing content plans within the team.
  • Provide weekly reports on performance, trends, and insights.
  • Build relationships with key social stakeholders and external partners.
  • Travel across the country to cover events, including weekends and bank holidays.
About You
  • Strong understanding of social platforms and best practices to drive growth.
  • Knowledge of effective content formats, tone, and trends for different platforms.
  • 1–2 years’ experience managing social media for a consumer-facing brand.
  • Confidence working cross-functionally and with external agencies or partners.
  • Excellent storytelling skills with a digital-first content approach.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative, proactive, and hands-on team player.
  • Passionate about social media and up-to-date with the latest trends.
  • Quick thinker, adaptable, and able to perform under pressure.
  • Good knowledge of horse racing is preferred.
