You will have the opportunity to work across various content in a fast-paced newsroom alongside top journalists. This role offers an exciting challenge to grow audiences and boost engagement.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare promotional assets for episodes, including teasers, thumbnails, graphics, and posts; test different content formats.
- Edit and optimize podcast video clips for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube Shorts, ensuring consistent tone and branding.
- Pitch editorial content ideas aligned with the tone of Telegraph podcasts and social media during conferences.
- Monitor social trends and online discourse to inform content decisions and commissioning strategies for podcasts.
- Engage audiences in real-time, cover breaking news, and respond to feedback through live-tweeting and reactive content.
- Shoot and edit social-first videos, including attending external shoots.
- Advise on scripting, presenting, shooting, and editing social footage; provide rapid feedback to writers.
- Share social trends and insights to inform content and maximize reach.
- Analyze performance data to refine social strategies and meet growth targets.
- Build loyal social followings and engaged communities.
- Experience in video production and editing using Adobe Premiere, preferably within a national publisher.
- Optimize videos for large audiences, understanding platform algorithms and engagement drivers.
- Set strategies, present ideas, and collaborate with teams to achieve goals.
- Work effectively in a busy editorial environment with social media content production.
- Demonstrate strong storytelling, scripting, and content creation skills.
- Proven track record of growing followers and nurturing communities across social platforms.
- Knowledge of the news podcast market and a passion for news and politics.
- Stay updated on social media trends and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Work independently and as part of a team, fostering relationships both in person and online.
