Description
We’re looking for a self-starting, creatively-driven Social Media Content Creator o develop and deepen our storytelling on Instagram, TikTok, and other social media channels. Sitting within the Marketing & Communications team, this is a hands-on role with plenty of space for creative experimentation, spontaneity, and bold, original ideas.
You’ll be responsible for the ideation, production and editing of standout content that brings Somerset House’s vibrant programme and creative community to life. Working closely with our other Social Media Manager, you’ll collaborate on a dynamic, diverse content calendar that elevates our cultural programme, champions our resident creatives, and builds deeper engagement with both new and existing audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creative Production
Capture and edit original video and photo content for Instagram and TikTok using best-practice and previous performance insights and learnings
Be present at Somerset House events and capture content that resonate on social media
Develop and deliver a consistent stream of engaging lo-fi and hi-fi content, from interview-based and people-led Reels and TikToks to spontaneous stories and event behind-the-scenes content.
Incorporate platform-native features (music, captions, text overlays, transitions, etc.) to optimise reach and engagement.
Content Management
Develop weekly content plans and publishing for Instagram, TikTok and other social media channels, aligning with programming, brand messaging and visual guidelines, and audience engagement goals.
Prepare content plans for stakeholder reviews ahead of time and secure relevant approvals
Create regular creative strands, series, or content formats that foster audience familiarity, anticipation, and interest.
Use platform-native tools or Brandwatch social media management tool to publish your content
Collaboration
Collaborate with the other Social Media Manager to ensure your content output contributes to a cohesive, strategically aligned Somerset House content calendar.
Work alongside the wider Marketing, Creative Design and Programming teams to support campaign activity, events, and artist content.
Engage proactively with the creative community on site to source user-generated content and build relationships that support content creation.
Liaise with press, commercial partners, and visitor experience teams to deliver content that meets agreed requirements and expectations
Intelligence
Monitor and benchmark performance of Somerset House social media content performance and actively apply learnings to refine content plans, creative outputs and improve future performance
Keep the marketing team informed of emerging social media trends, platform updates, and new features, ensuring the team stays ahead of changes that could impact digital marketing strategies.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Proven experience creating engaging video content for Instagram Reels and TikTok.
Experience with creating people-led and interview-based content for social media channels.
Excellent understanding of creative best practices and audience behaviours on Instagram and TikTok (paid and organic content).
Strong editorial and visual instincts, with a finger on the pulse of digital trends and youth culture.
Planning and managing multiple projects and campaign schedules.
Experience working within a cultural or arts setting.
Ability to capture strong video using both cameras and smartphones.
Skilled in editing using mobile-native apps or Adobe Premiere Pro. Demonstrable ability to independently produce content from concept, pre-production to upload.
A creative mindset, comfortable in making decisions in line with a brief.
An interest in experimental storytelling, emerging creators, and creative innovation.
Ability to react quickly and calmly in fast-paced situations.
