If you’re a creative thinker, obsessed with social media, and love turning everyday moments into standout content — keep reading!!

We’re looking for a proactive, visual-first Social Media Assistant to join our growing team at a future-focused London university.

About Us

At UEL, we’re on a mission to transform lives through education, supporting our vibrant and diverse student community and building a future-facing institution rooted in innovation and inclusion. Our External Relations Directorate brings together a range of specialist teams—communications, marketing, student recruitment, digital, and more—all working together to drive our Vision 2028 forward.

Our dynamic, award-winning External Relations Directorate is a creative, fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You’ll be at the heart of crafting standout campaigns, creating fresh content across platforms (social / print / digital), and bringing the UEL brand to life for thousands of future students.

About The Role

You’ll be supporting our Social Media Content Manager and social media Officer across all aspects of content and community — from filming and editing to scheduling and reporting. It’s a hands-on, fast-paced role where your ideas are valued, your voice is heard, and your creativity makes a real impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Bring UEL’s stories to life with standout visuals — think reels, graphics, short-form video, and more
  • Help manage a busy content calendar, turning both planned and spontaneous ideas into scroll-stopping posts
  • Support on daily posting and scheduling across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube
  • Capture live coverage of key moments like open days, graduation, and big campus events
  • Jump into community management — replying, moderating, and keeping things upbeat

About You

You don’t need to have years of experience — but you do need to bring energy, curiosity, and a passion for storytelling through digital. You’re confident with a phone in your hand, understand that every platform speaks differently, and aren’t afraid to experiment with new formats or tools.

We think you’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have experience using social media personally or professionally
  • Know your way around video editing, mobile-first tools, and visual content creation
  • Are a strong writer with great attention to detail
  • Bring creative ideas to the table and the initiative to make them happen

Sound like your kind of gig? We’d love to hear from you.
