Responsibilities for this role:
- Conduct and effectively summarize research on social themes related to financial services, including relevant frameworks, trends, regulation, industry initiatives, and peer best practices.
- Provide subject matter expertise and input into key Group initiatives, leveraging data-driven insights, leading frameworks, thought leadership, and knowledge of financial products.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across M&G, including asset owner and asset management businesses, to develop and mobilize initiatives supporting our Resilient Societies pillar.
- Support the development of M&G capabilities in societal impact areas by sharing knowledge and expertise across the organization.
- Translate emerging and existing external regulatory, voluntary, or obligatory industry requirements, and assess their impact on M&G's business and focus areas.
- Assist the Group Thematic Leads in identifying collaborative opportunities and engaging with industry initiatives, NGOs, think tanks, research institutions, and policymakers.
- Create content to showcase thought leadership on specific topics.
- Support the Group Head of Sustainability Strategy and Resilient Societies Thematic Lead in chairing group-wide working groups and committees by preparing agendas, taking minutes, and tracking actions to completion.
- Be part of a high-performing team that embraces innovation to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, agility, and pace.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Over 3 years of experience in sustainability, preferably within a financial institution.
- Technical knowledge of social sustainability topics such as financial inclusion, community resilience, affordable housing, social impacts of climate change, and just transition.
- Experience within the financial services industry, including understanding of key initiatives and regulations affecting financial services in the UK and EU (e.g., SFDR, SDR, CSRD, CSDDD).
- Proven ability to conduct research, generate ideas, synthesize information, and communicate effectively in writing.
- Good project management skills, ability to work independently, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive, collaborative, and able to engage effectively with stakeholders across the group.
- Organized, detail-oriented, with high accuracy.
- Proficient in Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- A degree in a relevant subject is advantageous.
