Housing Department Background

Our Housing team is highly regarded for its legal expertise and advocacy, ranked by The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners UK. We handle a wide range of housing issues, including homelessness, disrepair, eviction, possession proceedings, and neighborhood disputes, representing clients at all court levels, including the High Court.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Report directly to and collaborate with the Board to meet performance targets.
  2. Manage all aspects of Housing work, providing technical guidance to team members.
  3. Represent clients as Housing Court Duty Scheme over the past 2 years.
  4. Supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers, managing caseloads.
  5. Contribute to training and development within the department.
  6. Handle various housing cases and undertake advocacy.
  7. Manage emergency cases and strategic litigation.
  8. Prepare funding applications and legal documents.
  9. Maintain a proactive approach with strong client care and business development skills.
Key Skills and Requirements
  1. 3+ years PQE in Housing and Litigation, including court representation.
  2. Experience as Duty Advisor under Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme in the last 2 years.
  3. Willingness to work towards the 2013 SQM Supervisor standard in Housing.
  4. Experience in welfare rights and community care issues.
  5. Valid Practicing Certificate.
  6. Team player with leadership and networking skills.
  7. Experience in supervising and working with KPIs.
  8. Excellent client care, advocacy, and IT skills, including Microsoft Office and social media management.
  9. Legal sector experience preferred.
