Are you interested in working for the largest local authority in Scotland, in partnership with the NHS, to help improve the health and wellbeing of our community? Then, you are in the right place!
Glasgow is a thriving and vibrant city with excellent opportunities to join us and contribute towards helping all our neighbourhoods flourish. The Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP) is on a journey to radically change the way in which Social Work delivers support and services.
An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a Social Care Worker to join our NORM Social Work Team.
NORM is a joint initiative set up by GCHSCP and Police Scotland. Its remit is to provide an early intervention service for victims and children affected by domestic abuse across Glasgow; working to increase safety and improve outcomes. The team aims to minimise referrals to Scottish Children’s Reporters Administration and Children and Families Teams by conducting initial risk and needs assessments, delivering short-term interventions, and providing signposting information and advice related to domestic abuse referrals from Police, especially when a child is involved. This includes home visits when necessary and working with health, education, and third sector services to reduce harm and trauma to children and caregivers caused by domestic abuse.
The Social Care Worker will manage a caseload of children impacted by domestic abuse. Responsibilities include screening new referrals, assessing needs, providing appropriate short-term interventions, and signposting, while partnering with the non-abusive parent to create a safe environment for children. The role involves gathering the child's views when appropriate, as well as those of the person who caused harm, to inform risk assessments. The Social Care Worker does not have line management responsibilities.
Please note that applicants may be subject to Level 2 NPPV (Non Police Personnel Vetting) checks prior to appointment.
Possession of HNC and/or SVQ3 is desirable but not essential. Refer to the Person Specification for full details on the skills, knowledge, and competencies required.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential upon appointment. Successful candidates will need to pay for their PVG membership or scheme checks.
These posts are subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
