Role: Social Care Worker (Day) (Older People Residential)
Location: Citywide
Salary: Starting hourly rate £17.84 - see attached further breakdown
Hours and Shift Pattern: 24 hours per week, 12-hour shifts - see attached further breakdown of shifts

Our Glasgow City Care Homes provide care and support in enabling surroundings to our residents 24/7, where you would work 12-hour shifts.
As a Social Care Worker, you will work as part of a team under the guidance of Senior staff to provide direct care and support to older people living within our residential care homes. You will collaborate with residents to understand what matters to them, creating and delivering a person-centred care plan. Other duties include supporting, organizing, and deploying staff to provide direct care to residents.
Previous experience working with vulnerable adults or older people is essential. You must be able to work independently without direct supervision. You should hold values that promote the wellbeing of older people, with a desire to support others with compassion and kindness, respecting their rights and choices.
You must be proficient in both written and spoken English and be familiar with Health and Safety at Work legislation. Applications are encouraged from ethnic minorities and fluent speakers of other languages such as Cantonese, Hakka, Punjabi, and Urdu.
This role requires you to have or be able to obtain a SVQ Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification, to meet Scottish Social Services Council registration requirements. Glasgow City Council will support and fund this qualification.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is mandatory upon appointment. Successful candidates will need to pay for their PVG membership.
Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is essential. You should already be registered or apply within 3 months of starting, with registration completed within 6 months. As part of the local government pay deal, current staff are not required to pay SSSC registration fees.
These roles are covered under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
